Our Big Idea
We are swimmers, coaches, camp directors, life-learners, a positive and occasionally goofy duo who love the sport of swimming as a life sport and are passionate about sharing it with others. We are excited about and dedicated to this initiative in starting our swim club – Future Aquatic Swim Team – FAST, in an effort to build young individuals’ futures through competitive swimming. We are aiming to create a positive, fun, team-oriented, personal growth outlet for children and adolescents in our local community-- a city we are personally connected to-- to build self-discipline and confidence in and out of the water.
FAST is a competitive swim program designed in a learning environment focused on the personal development of each swimmer both in physical strength, technique and ability but more importantly, building self-discipline and confidence in and out of the water. Focusing
on more than just learning how to be the fastest swimmer in the pool, FAST is dedicated to building characteristics through team-work, challenging workouts and dedication to this amazing sport that will guide our young athletes throughout their life journey.
FAST is a coach-owned, year-round, age-group (ages 6 - 17 years) swim team located
behind the J.F. Kennedy High School on Cutting Boulevard in the City of Richmond, CA.
Its staff consists of well-trained, knowledgeable, passionate and experienced coaches who have over 20 years of combined experience teaching and coaching age group swimmers of all backgrounds and levels. The history behind this idea for our new team and what drives this initiative is our personal connection and relation to the city and community of Richmond.
The program anticipates to provide workouts focusing on drills for proper technique, both short-, mid- and long-distance training for endurance, speed, dryland exercises, drills, stretches and team-building activities in and out of the pool. All activities and practices will be carefully planned in an effort to cater to the appropriate groups, ages, genders and abilities of each swimmer with their training goals in mind.
Our competitive advantage is that we want to make swimming a life sport. Our team aims to create an environment where young individuals want to swim on our team not just because of the swimmer they’re becoming but, more importantly, because of the people they are becoming. It’s about the character they are building in addition to the speed, endurance, technique, understanding of teamwork, dedication and patience they are building. Plus it’s fun and team-focused because to help yourself, one must help others along the way.
Our primary facility is the newly renovated 6-lane 25-yard indoor pool at the Richmond Swim Center. Located at 4300 Cutting Boulevard in Richmond, it comes with retractable ceilings allowing for , an extended pool area as well as an outdoor splash and picnic area that will be used for dry-land activities and training. This new facility is a fantastic place to host meets as there is decent amount of deck space. There are swim lessons but no current swim team located there yet which is where FAST comes into play.
